2011 Theme: Hybrids And we don't mean the Zebra Ant! We're talking about Hybrid Documentaries... or a documentary that is fused with another style; such as documentary/fiction, or documentary/comedy, or documentary/drama. We are all familiar with the most popular hybrid, the Mockumentary; but there are an infinite number of ways in which the documentary style can be combined with other genres. We love it when filmmakers "toe the line" and push the boundaries of what is possible in the documentary genre.
2011 Theme: Making An Impact Many of the most popular documentaries strive to make the public aware of an important issue or cause. These films teach us about food, water, our health and our environment; but most importantly they teach us about people. Do you have a documentary with an important message? Submit your film today and expand your audience.
2011 Theme: Mobile Video Video can now be captured on a variety of unconventional devices. Most recently, the iPhone announced HD Video capability and shooting video on DSLR is almost common place! Thin Line Film Fest is now accepting documentaries shot on cell phones and DSLR cameras. We are specifically honoring those filmmakers who took the leap of faith to make a movie with the latest technology.
2011 Theme: Music Denton has a long history of creating talented musicians and is now considered one of the major centers of indie music in the U.S. In 2011, Thin Line Film Fest will honor that heritage with a selection of documentaries about or which heavily feature music. Have you seen a really good music documentary lately? Let us know!
